Artist Statement: "This song took me longer to write than most songs (about a year).  I had started to play its first couple of incarnations at shows just because it felt good to sing, though it wasn't finished.  I knew that I really loved this idea of reliability amongst friends and lovers in the times when they might need it most.  The pairing of a river valley and mountain range came very naturally with the easy flow of the song.  My friend Ana told me that she loved the role reversal of the man (ie. me, the singer) being the river valley, while the female takes the position of the mountain range (more typically a masculine figure).  This wasn't planned, but I'm glad it's there.  This version is the acoustic take from the sessions for my upcoming solo album, "Secret Handshake" (the electric version is on the album).  Enjoy!"
