Artist Statement: This song was written and recorded quickly, forgotten, and then rediscovered when I was finishing my album, 'American in Love.' It fit and I needed something that wasn't slow and sad so I put it on there. There used to be a loud and unfortunate outro that was as long as the song itself. It always seemed wrong, but I didn't know how annoying it was until I played it for my friend Rebecca. It was clear from her reaction and my embarrassment that I should just get rid of it. That made the song clear and clean and quick and it finally worked. Many things were ending around me when I wrote the lyrics and I was hoping that new and better things were beginning. They were. Later, those things also ended. I also read 'A People's History of the United States' around the time I wrote this and that had something to do with it.
